What Are GMP Water Heating Skids?

GMP Water Heating Skids are pre-engineered, skid-mounted systems designed to act as a GMP hot water distribution system. The skids integrate stainless steel tanks, heaters, pumps, valves, instrumentation, and automation to deliver repeatable, validatable thermal performance.

Every system is tailored to the application, yet built on standardised, modular architecture to accelerate delivery and minimise risk.

Key GMP Water Heating Skids Features at a Glance

  • 316L stainless steel sanitary construction

  • ASME BPE-compliant, with no dead legs and fully drainable

  • Customisable flow rates and capacities up to 10,000 litres and 1,000 L/min

  • Steam, electric, or hot oil heating options

  • Full automation with Siemens PLC + 12″ Human Machine Interface (HMI)

  • 21 CFR Part 11 & GAMP5 compliant software

  • Storage vessels with 0.2μm vent filters and burst discs

  • Batch reporting, riboflavin test-ready coverage, and plug-and-play installation

  • Fully Electrically Heated Skids – Supporting Net Zero Goals

As part of Suncombe’s commitment to sustainable engineering, all GMP Water Heating Skids are available with fully electric heating options. These electrically powered hot water storage units eliminate the need for fossil-fuel-based steam or thermal oil systems and offer:

  • Zero on-site carbon emissions (when powered by renewable sources)

  • Precise, controllable heat profiles

  • Reduced energy loss and improved efficiency

  • Lower maintenance costs vs traditional steam systems

  • Electric heating supports cGMP Pharmaceutical Lab Environments and facilities striving for Net Zero or decarbonisation goals, while delivering the same high standards of temperature control, validation, and hygiene. They are ideal for new sustainable builds or facility upgrades moving away from gas and steam utilities.

    Validated for Clean, Safe Use

Each system is engineered for cGMP environments, with a full lifecycle validation model including:

  • Design Qualification (DQ)

  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with wet/dry tests

  • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)

  • Installation & Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ)

  • All GMP hot water distribution and storage systems come with comprehensive documentation, including weld maps, material certificates (3.1/2.2), and validation protocols.

    Intelligent Automation

Every skid includes Suncombe’s proprietary ControlSuite™ software, offering:

  • Recipe-driven temperature, flow, pressure, and chemical concentration control

  • User-configurable parameters for different applications

  • FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance with audit trail, batch reporting, and access control

  • Local and network storage, remote access, and Active Directory integration

  • Broader Sustainability Options

In addition to electric heating, Suncombe supports sustainable operations with:

  • Heat recovery systems

  • Low-energy circulation design

  • Advanced thermal insulation to reduce energy loss

  • Smart automation to eliminate unnecessary heating or idling

  • Flexible Applications

    Ideal for:

  • Heating cold water for process use

  • Maintaining temperature-controlled water for cleaning or sanitisation

  • Preparing heated chemical or cleaning solutions

  • Any application where sanitary, temperature-controlled water must be delivered in compliance with GMP and cGMP standards for pharmaceutical lab environments.

  • Available as static, distributed, or mobile systems, the skids are compact enough for space-constrained retrofits but powerful enough for full-scale production environments.

    Built for Integration

With standard Ethernet connectivity and optional remote I/O, Suncombe’s heating skids integrate easily into:

  • Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems

  • Effluent Decontamination Systems (EDS)

  • GMP Washers

  • Process tanks and pipework systems

  • Configurable Capacities

    With standard units ranging from:

  • 150L to 10,000L storage

  • 5 to 1,000 litres per minute flowrate

  • Pipe sizes from ½” to 4”Custom vessel geometries (vertical or horizontal) and materials (Duplex, Hastelloy, thermoplastics) are available on request.
